In "Neanderthal: Memories," you have the opportunity to help Nami remember her last trip with her son, as you explore the new tactile exhibits that evoke painful memories of her past. Using simple swipe gestures, you can make important decisions and safely guide Nami and her son to their family and their summer camp. Immerse yourself in the world of the Neanderthals and discover more about their enigmatic elders with the support of the artificial intelligence (A.I.) "NMsee." This A.I. not only assists in finding immersive tactile exhibits and exciting information about archaeology, the Stone Age, and human evolution but also provides an Indoor Navigation Service within the museum.

"Neanderthal: Memories" is an inclusive mobile game designed for adults that acts as your guide throughout the permanent exhibition of the Neanderthal Museum in Germany. The game is available for free download and offers a unique way to connect with Nami's memories of the Stone Age world by using your smartphone and headphones. Through simple swiping gestures, you can navigate through a bygone world of sounds from the last ice age, allowing you to explore the Neanderthal Museum and the Stone Age regardless of your eyesight.

Download "Neanderthal: Memories" now and experience the game at one of the 14 new stations located in the museum's permanent exhibition. The museum has also created an inclusive infrastructure complete with a floor guidance system, tactile labels, and numerous interesting tactile exhibits to enhance your visit. The A.I. "NMsee" offers an accessible route description to ensure that everyone can fully enjoy their time at the museum.

If you use a screen reader, it is recommended to switch it off when starting the game for an optimal experience. The museum's A.I. "NMsee" will guide you through the entire game; however, you can still play "Neanderthal: Memories" using screen reader software if desired.

To make the most of the location-based game content, please ensure that Bluetooth and location detection are switched on while playing and connect to the museum's guest WiFi. "Neanderthal: Memories" utilizes beacon technology and QR codes to deliver an immersive experience.

The development of "Neanderthal: Memories" took place from 2019-2021 as part of the research project "NMsee," a collaboration between BSV Nordrhein e.V. and the Neanderthal Museum.
